Collaborative Advocacy

Our Vision

RAF sees a world where Africa’s cultural heritage is reclaimed, recognized, restored, and celebrated by its rightful custodians.

Our Mission

To champion the restitution of Africa‘s heritage assets that were illicitly trafficked under colonial contexts, and support communities in reclaiming their identities and dignity through public dialogue and engagement.

Core Values

We uphold integrity, partnership based on mutual respect and trust, and community empowerment in our efforts to restore Africa’s dignity.

Dedicated to Repatriating African Cultural Heritage, Knowledge Production and Information Exchange

RAF operates through research and constructive advocacy, bringing together communities, scholars, the media, organizations, and other stakeholders to collaboratively ensure that cultural materials and other heritage assets that Africans have been deprived of are returned to their rightful places.
It organizes public outreach programmes to raise awareness and encourage dialogue about expropriated cultural heritage, mobilize support for the repatriation of African heritage assets, enhance public understanding of the African past and present, including the political, and how these interconnect and point to the future, and to empower communities to reclaim, own, and be proud of their culture and heritage. In addition, RAF engages global institutions, policymakers, and other establishments to address historical injustices in Africa and the Diaspora and promote self-reflection and ethical practices in the stewardship of
Africa’s heritage assets.
