Artifacts return and repatriation initiative

We bring together communities, scholars, museums and other state and non-state organizations to work collaboratively on the restitution of collections from colonial context to their origins.
our research initiatives provide a foundation for understanding the character and value of collections from African colonial context and ensuring ethical stewardship of the collections.
We engage with and empower local communities: learning from local knowledge and involving local expertise in determining the live of restituted collections. We also work with community stakeholders to produce knowledge and to foster prof and ownership in local cultures and heritages. Professionalism in the management of local cultural and heritage resources.

Our Approach?

Our commitment to restoring cultural identity sets us apart, making us the preferred choice for research and advocacy in repatriation and restitution efforts.

01

Collaborative Advocacy

We bring together communities, scholars, organizations and other stakeholders to collaboratively work on repatriation projects, ensuring that cultural materials and other heritage assets Africans have been deprived of under colonial context are returned to their rightful places.

02

Research-Driven Approach

Our research initiatives provide a solid foundation for gathering information to generate insights into Africa’s past in a cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary context. These initiatives enhance our understanding of the African past and how this past connects to the present and points to the future.

03

Community Empowerment

We promote local community self-empowerment by involving them as partners in research, knowledge production and information dissemination. This is to foster local community ownership of and pride in their culture and heritage assets.
